Eating well is hard, and eating well in college is harder. How to Eat Healthy in College, a Webinar conducted in March 2016 in Orlando, FL, is a simple guide on how to make healthy food choices in college. According to the study by Health Marketing Quarterly, when students first go away to college, it’s most likely the first time they have had to take care of themselves, and the first time they have had to make decisions about what they should and shouldn’t eat. It can be hard to eat healthy in college due to late night studying, low budgets, or being constantly in a rush. However, by making sensible food choices students can learn how to make healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime. In less than 10 minutes student athlete Marissa Prochaska covers five essential elements to improving a college diet:

·      Make Smart Choices in the Cafeteria

·      Store Healthy Snacks in your Room

·      Control Late Night Snacking

·      Plan Meals in advance as often as Possible

·      Choose Healthy Choices at Restaurants

By the end of this webinar, you will have a better understanding of how to make healthier food choices in college. In addition, you will have the knowledge and tools necessary to assist you in choosing the right foods, but ultimately the choice to make a change is up to you. You now have all the information you need, what are you going to do with it? To find out more about eating healthier in college, go to “Nutrition Tips for College Students.”

Dean Ornish’s Powerful TED Talk Explains How to Help Your Body Heal Itself through Diet.

On February 2004, clinical Professor Dean Ornish presents a TED talk about how healing is a natural wonder and how our body has the inherent capacity to heal itself, if we stop doing things that cause the problems.

Dean Ornish is a clinical professor at UCSF and founder of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute. He went to  Baylor College of MedicineRice UniversityUniversity of Texas at Austin.  He’s a leading expert on fighting illness, particularly heart disease with dietary and lifestyle changes. He feels that the problem is that people almost always try to treat symptoms without any understanding of the causes, leaving the door open for future problems.

“Instead of trying to motivate [patients] with the ‘fear of dying,’ Ornish reframes the issue. He inspires a new vision of the ‘joy of living’ — convincing them they can feel better, not just live longer.” — Fast Company

Luke Durward’s Motivational TED Talk: How to make healthy eating unbelievably easy

York University sponsored a TED talk with Luke Durward in Toronto on March 4, 2014 on making healthy eating easy.

Durward is a kinesiology student at York University with an intense focus on nutrition. There is a four-letter word when it comes to health, fitness and wellness that people cringe at the sound or sight of. DIET. Any food lover hates the sight or sounds of the word, but Luke’s inspiring TED talk focused on how easy lifestyle changes and healthy eating can be. Government Fitness states that “Unhealthy eating habit have contributed to the obesity epidemic in the United States: about a third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese and approximately 17%17% or 12.5 million of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are obese.

After breaking his leg and not being able to attend class he decided to take his little brother under his wing and help him learn about healthy eating. Dieting is a lifestyle many choose to avoid but Luke Duward takes a different point of view when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. “When you remove the barrier for possible failure it will not be hard to make the right decision for success”. Healthy eating is easy when you provide yourself with the tool for success.
